Change Your Bedroom on a Budget
The bedroom is everyone’s private escape, a place to get away from the stresses of the world and to relax. Many people place redecorating the bedroom bottom of the list when it comes time to spruce up the house. Living rooms, kitchens and even the hallway get put before the bedroom; just because it is a room that visitors don’t see doesn’t mean that it should be neglected, especially as it is your own personal room.
The good thing about the bedroom is that it can be decorated on a budget, even if most of the budget has be used up on other rooms, the bedroom needn’t be left out. There is plenty of cheap and easy ways to give your bedroom a new vibe.
Moving furniture
One of the easiest ways to give the bedroom a new look is to simply change around the positions of the furniture. Moving the chest of drawers to another corner and placing the bed against a different wall can all give a room a whole new feel, small things such as placing the rug at a different angle and swapping around pictures can also help towards sparking enthusiasm in the room.
Seasons
Changing with the seasons is something that many people should but don’t do. If your bedroom has a winter cosy feel with dark, rich colours then a quick change of accessories can make a difference to lighten up the room. Drastic steps such as stripping wallpaper and repainting walls need not be taken. Taking down curtains, changing cushions and brightening accessories can all give the room a light and summery feel.
Bed
The focal point of any bedroom is the bed, altering the look of the bed will give any bedroom a whole new outlook. Giving the bed a different look can be done on even the tightest of budgets, having a neutral bedspread and skirt will allow you to express other elements of the room. A neutral coloured duvet can be stitched together easily using two sheets and using buttons or Velcro to close the end.
Pillows
Pillows can add colour and shine to a room and look great against neutral bedding, feel free to experiment with colours. Material to make pillow covers can be bought cheaply from fabric shops and you can mix large pillows with small cushions to give the room a stylish feel.
Accessories
Accessories play just as much a role in a bedrooms look as the décor, simple things such as candles on the bedside table or fresh flowers on the chest of drawers can add a touch of class to a room and are cheap and easy to buy.
